Dr. Katja Schulze

Dr. Katja Schulze

CSO & Computer Vision Expert
Katja has a Bachelor of Science in Biosystems Technology/Bioinformatics from the University of Applied Sciences Wildau, a Master of Science in Biosystems Technology/Bioinformatics from the same institution and a PhD in Bioinformatics from the Julius-Maximilians-Universitat Wurzburg. She is an expert for image recognition of microscopic images and has published several papers in the field. Katja started her carrier at the TH Wildau as a postdoctoral research scientist before founding Oculyze together with Kilian and Ulrich.
Dr. Ulrich M. Tillich

Dr. Tillich has a Bachelor of Science in Biosystems Technology/Bioinformatics from the University of Applied Sciences Wildau, a Master of Science in Biosystems Technology/Bioinformatics from the same institution and a Ph.D in Molecular Biology from the Humboldt-Universität of Berlin. Ulrich then worked as a postdoctoral research scientist at the Humbold-Universität as well as the TH Wildau before founding Oculyze together wih Katja and Kilian.
Kilian L. Moser

Kilian L. Moser

CEO
Kilian has a Bachelor Degree in International Business Science with specialization in business law, market research and accounting from Universidad Pontificia Comillas and an MBA degree from ESB Business School. Kilian started working as an intern for the Dealer Network Development department at Porsche AG in 2008. While at Porsche, he made an impression that landed him the position of Business Development Manager for Porsche Latin America. There he was in charge of product and price positioning and later for the Dealer Network Development – including investor selection. After six years at Porsche, together with Ulrich and Katja, he founded Oculyze to develop the first handheld automated image recognition microscope.
Prof. Dr. Marcus Frohme

Prof. Dr. Marcus Frohme

Academic Advisor
Prof. Frohme studied (molecular) biology and received his Ph.D from the Medical Faculty Heidelberg. He was a PhD-student, Post-Doc and Vice Head of the Functional Genome Analysis Department at the German Cancer Research Center Heidelberg (DKFZ). Currently he is Head of the Molecular Biotechnology and Functional Genomics Department at the Technical University of Applied Sciences in Wildau and a research professor for Molecular Biology. Prof. Frohme’s knowledge and experience in microscopy and biology have been a strong asset in developing the technology behind the Oculyze system.
Cenk Uyan

Cenk Uyan

Software Engineering Manager
Cenk holds a Bachelor of Computer Engineering from Ege University and an M.Sc. in Computer Science from Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering at Arizona State University with a specialization in Artificial Intelligence. Cenk started his career at Lands’End, developing statistical models based on multivariate time-series analysis to forecast future catalog purchases. He continued his career at Cap Gemini, providing consultancy services in the USA in the areas of telecommunication, direct marketing, and fraud-detection.

He accepted a teaching position at Bilkent University, in Ankara, on his return after obtaining his master’s degree. He continued working with major defense software companies in Turkey, including Havelsan and Aselsan, leading teams on the design and development of mission critical systems that are still in use today. He was working as a Team Leader and Software Architect at a major internet security company, a major internet security software company, when he was approached by Oculyze to join their team as Senior Software Engineer in 2017.

Thomas Kolesnyk

Thomas Kolesnyk

Hardware Developer

Thomas is from southern suburbs of Berlin. He was born as a maker and studied electrical engineering at Humboldt University in Berlin. He has working experience ranging from electronic parts production to complex industrial control systems in use worldwide. He worked as RD manager for film scanner development in electrical, optical and mechanic construction.

His interest and experience include rapid prototyping, robotics and additive manufacturing.

Hanna Säynäjäkangas

Hanna Säynäjäkangas

International Sales
Hanna is originally from the northern part of Finland. She has worked as a Team Leader in the field of IT in Sweden and as a Country Manager in an E-commerce startup in Germany. She has a Master of Science in Economics and Business Administration from the Oulu Business School and Master of Arts in Literature from the University of Oulu. Her studies included information processing science and digital media. After a decade of working with different international teams she started her journey as part of Oculyze team in February 2018. She is interested in languages, and whenever she is not travelling or learning a new language, she loves going to see live music.
Berner Panti

Berner Panti

Computer Vision Engineer
Berner has a Bachelor of Telecommunications Engineering degree from Politecnico di Milano and holds a Master of Telecommunications Networks Engineering degree from Politecnico di Milano. After working on his master’s thesis on Visual Sensor Networks in IST Lisbon, he worked as Computer Vision researcher in the same institution until late 2015. After moving to Berlin the same year he started working as Computer Vision Engineer, developing Augmented Reality applications for companies such as Viewtwoo srl. and Viorama GmbH. In his free time, he enjoys drawing and writing stories that he occasionally publishes. He is also very humble about his foosball skills.

    Julian joined the Oculyze team as a work student in March 2019.
    Juliane Pfeil

    Juliane Pfeil

    PhD Student
    Juliane completed her studies at the Technical University in Wildau with a Bachelor and Master of Science in Biosystems Engineering / Bioinformatics. She then worked as a developer and project manager in the field of machine learning and quality management at Casenio in Berlin, an ambient assisted living and smart home system. She started her PhD in March 2017 at the Technical University of Wildau and works in the area of image recognition: her goal is to establish the Oculyze system for the medical field. She is also a horseback riding instructor and in order to communicate with the horses, she has created her own terminology. She’s a modern day horse whisperer.
    Tina Plettner

    Tina Plettner

    Team Assistant
    Tina achieved a Bachelor of Arts in International Hospitality Administration from London Metropolitan University. She started her career on beautiful Mainau Island in Lake Constance working in event coordination and customer relations. After seven years in the south of Germany, her organizational skills were put to use in the administration of seminars in Bonn until Summer 2015. Working remotely from Sicily, Italy while accompanying her husband for the last five years, she now joined our team in October 2020.
