Kilian L. Moser

Kilian L. Moser

CEO
Kilian has a Bachelor Degree in International Business Science with specialization in business law, market research and accounting from Universidad Pontificia Comillas and an MBA degree from ESB Business School. Kilian started working as an intern for the Dealer Network Development department at Porsche AG in 2008. While at Porsche, he made an impression that landed him the position of Business Development Manager for Porsche Latin America. There he was in charge of product and price positioning and later for the Dealer Network Development – including investor selection. After six years at Porsche, together with Ulrich and Katja, he founded Oculyze to develop the first handheld automated image recognition microscope.
Dr. Ulrich M. Tillich

Dr. Ulrich M. Tillich

CTO & co-CEO
Dr. Tillich has a Bachelor of Science in Biosystems Technology/Bioinformatics from the University of Applied Sciences Wildau, a Master of Science in Biosystems Technology/Bioinformatics from the same institution and a Ph.D in Molecular Biology from the Humboldt-Universität of Berlin. Ulrich then worked as a postdoctoral research scientist at the Humbold-Universität as well as the TH Wildau before founding Oculyze together wih Katja and Kilian.
Dr. Katja Schulze

Dr. Katja Schulze

CSO & Computer Vision Expert
Katja has a Bachelor of Science in Biosystems Technology/Bioinformatics from the University of Applied Sciences Wildau, a Master of Science in Biosystems Technology/Bioinformatics from the same institution and a PhD in Bioinformatics from the Julius-Maximilians-Universitat Wurzburg. She is an expert for image recognition of microscopic images and has published several papers in the field. Katja started her carrier at the TH Wildau as a postdoctoral research scientist before founding Oculyze together with Kilian and Ulrich.
Prof. Dr. Marcus Frohme

Prof. Dr. Marcus Frohme

Team Mentor
Prof. Frohme studied (molecular) biology and received his Ph.D from the Medical Faculty Heidelberg. He was a PhD-student, Post-Doc and Vice Head of the Functional Genome Analysis Department at the German Cancer Research Center Heidelberg (DKFZ). Currently he is Head of the Molecular Biotechnology and Functional Genomics Department at the Technical University of Applied Sciences in Wildau and a research professor for Molecular Biology. Prof. Frohme’s knowledge and experience in microscopy and biology have been a strong asset in developing the technology behind the Oculyze system.
Cenk Uyan

Cenk Uyan

Senior Software Developer
Cenk holds a Bachelor of Computer Engineering from Ege University and an M.Sc. in Computer Science from Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering at Arizona State University with a specialization in Artificial Intelligence. Cenk started his career at Lands’End, developing statistical models based on multivariate time-series analysis to forecast future catalog purchases. He continued his career at Cap Gemini, providing consultancy services in the USA in the areas of telecommunication, direct marketing, and fraud-detection.

He accepted a teaching position at Bilkent University, in Ankara, on his return after obtaining his master’s degree. He continued working with major defense software companies in Turkey, including Havelsan and Aselsan, leading teams on the design and development of mission critical systems that are still in use today. He was working as a Team Leader and Software Architect at a major internet security company, a major internet security software company, when he was approached by Oculyze to join their team as Senior Software Engineer in 2017.

Juliane Pfeil

PhD Student
Juliane completed her studies at the Technical University in Wildau with a Bachelor and Master of Science in Biosystems Engineering / Bioinformatics. She then worked as a developer and project manager in the field of machine learning and quality management at Casenio in Berlin, an ambient assisted living and smart home system. She started her PhD in March 2017 at the Technical University of Wildau and works in the area of image recognition: her goal is to establish the Oculyze system for the medical field. She is also a horseback riding instructor and in order to communicate with the horses, she has created her own terminology. She’s a modern day horse whisperer.
Benjamin Girke

Benjamin Girke

Work Student
Benny is originally from Mecklenburg but grew up in the Brandenburg area. He started his career as a Baker Apprentice on the German-Swiss border and then as a natural next step, he completed his training as a Technical Assistant for chemical and biological laboratories at the Lette-Verein Berlin. During his training, he was an intern at RIPAC, specializing in the field of veterinary medicine diagnostics. In order to satisfy his thirst for knowledge, he completed a Bachelor of Science in Bioinformatics/Biosystems Engineering at the TH Wildau. He joined the Oculyze team as a work student in April 2016 during his bachelor studies and he is currently working on his masters in the same field of study.

Sarajevo born, Croatian citizen that grew up in the beautiful land of Canada! Andrea has traveled far and wide to finally find her way home to Berlin. She has a Bachelor of Business Administration with a focus in Marketing from the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology in Canada and a Master of Arts in Advertising and Marketing Communications from Bournemouth University in England. She has over 7 years of experience in Marketing and Advertising, working previously in the Startup world for 3. She joined the Oculyze team in April 2017 and you will never find her wearing a dull pair of socks. She also has a great (self-proclaimed) taste in music, movies and tv shows.
Berner Panti

Berner Panti

Computer Vision Engineer
Berner has a Bachelor of Telecommunications Engineering degree from Politecnico di Milano and holds a Master of Telecommunications Networks Engineering degree from Politecnico di Milano. After working on his master’s thesis on Visual Sensor Networks in IST Lisbon, he worked as Computer Vision researcher in the same institution until late 2015. After moving to Berlin the same year he started working as Computer Vision Engineer, developing Augmented Reality applications for companies such as Viewtwoo srl. and Viorama GmbH. In his free time, he enjoys drawing and writing stories that he occasionally publishes. He is also very humble about his foosball skills.
Florian Steininger

Florian Steininger

Sales Representative & Brewer
Florian was born and raised in Bavaria and developed his love for cultures and people while traveling with his father and twin brother. In 2010 he began his studies in Brewing Science and Beverage Technology at the Technical University in München because he was so intrigued by what he calls “the most delicious and fascinating drink in the world – beer.” In 2014, the travel bug hit him again and he journeyed to Brazil where he learned the tricks of the trade in craft brewing and where he met his wife! Home and craft brewing excite him and his passion lives in creating his own beer styles and experimenting with yeast strains. He won first prize at the IGL beer competition for his wheat-stout “Hlöd” and when he’s not with the Oculyze team, he is working on building up his own mini brewery.
